Text Reviews - Nice Guy Johnny

‘Nice Guy Johnny’ has an appealing coming to age feel, but ends squandering timidly. Edward Burns comes across as the only believable actor, surprising you with a realistic delivery in what feels like some film student’s weak adaptation of a play. It’s too sweet and moves way to slow to make any kind of impact. - C

Text Reviews - Hall Pass

‘Hall Pass’ seems to have all the makings of a comic hit, but with weak writing and even weaker delivery you’re left embarrassed for its players instead of with them. What starts as a decent scenario limps through the motions of standard Hollywood practice and finishes in last, squandering for a laugh with “insert here” raunch jokes that never feel appropriately earned or timed. A poor turn indeed. - D+

Text Reviews - Captain America: The First Avenger

Nice guys finish first in ‘Captain America: The First Avenger’, an action packed origin story with big heart! It’s incredibly hokey at times, but there will always be something about a man with no quit. Oh,the guilty pleasures of American propaganda! - B

Text Reviews - Another Year

The honest subtleties of life as we know it. Strong character growth moves ‘Another Year’ along with a sad realism that’s all its own. With fantastic casting of a unique ensemble, it offers a simple look at the crippling truths and the pillars of understanding that keep them upright. - B+

Text Reviews - Skyline

What a monumental waste of time and money! ‘Skyline’ lends few thrills with no flavor, showcasing everything that’s wrong with the Hollywood machine. Horribly conceived, written, cast, and edited, it’s truly the ultimate disaster movie. - F

Text Reviews - American: The Bill Hicks Story

Bill Hicks, in all of his heated passion, lived a short but incredibly important life. ‘American: The Bill Hicks Story’ begins at the birth of the comedian, taking you step by step through his normal beginnings and ever so painful ends. It allows you deep inside the foundation of a creative mind. Inspiring and undeniably relatable. - A-

Text Reviews - Midnight Cowboy

1969’s ‘Midnight Cowboy’ is a philosophic thought provoker with a colorful imagination. It asks the big picture questions in an unassuming and often times humorous tone. A dignified yet depressing attack on the american dream. - B+

Text Reviews - Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part II

I am ready to eat all of my words. Every single past criticism I’ve made regarding this series. I finally understand now. No saga has invested this much time and energy into it’s character development, ultimately creating the finale we’ve all been waiting for! ‘Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part II’ is an epic spellbinder that far exceeds any and all expectations. The past films act merely as a back story for the movie we had always hoped the others to be. Everyone steps up and absolutely slays! It’s an action packed emotional powerhouse that answers any and all questions! Bravo! - A

Text Reviews - Horrible Bosses

It misses on occasion, But overall ‘Horrible Bosses’ gets big laughs when it matters most. The trio of Bateman, Day, and Sudeikis each bring their signature styles of comedic timing and presence to the table, creating scenes that start slow but end strong. It’s the bosses that kind of screw things up. Spacey is a god but Colin Farrell fails as usual, and although Aniston is sexy as hell, she really doesn’t pull any weight. It’s no ‘Hangover’, but in what has been a weak summer movie season so far, I’ll take it! - B

Text Reviews - Biutiful

‘Biutiful’ is anything but, depicting true pain and sadness with no resolve. Bardem is flawless under the helm of inarritu, his fleeting life vividly captured with cinematic elegance. But nothing positive comes from this detailed experience, leaving you squandering in negativity and doubt. You’ll be asking yourself more questions then you have answers for. - B-
